George Gardi (born 30 May 1981) is an Italian sports agent. He began his career in July 2011 through the transfer of Eran Zahavi from Hapoel Tel Aviv to Palermo becoming a trusted collaborator of Pini Zahavi. [1]
In 2015 he took care of the transfer of the Cameroonian champion Samuel Eto'o from Everton to Sampdoria [2] and then his transfer from Italy to Turkey to Antalyaspor in 2016. [3]
In the period in which Eto'o plays for Sampdoria, he rises to the headlines for having sued the president Massimo Ferrero for threats following a telephone call between the two in 2016, on the question concerning the transfer of the young footballer Fabrice Olinga. [4] [5]
Gardi debated that Samuel Eto'o agreed to move to Sampdoria ria by reducing a good part of his engagement in order to encourage the purchase of the young Cameroonian footballer Fabrice Olinga (who grew up in the Samuel Etò foundation) owned by Apollōn Limassol, but once the contract was signed, Sampdoria at first integrates Olinga with the withdrawal of the first Blucerchiata team, but immediately afterwards suddenly remains out of pink due to the exhaustion of places for non-EU citizens. On 11 April 2016 Gardi first organized a press conference with Samuel Etò [6] and subsequently together with the club belonging to Olinga, he decided to protect the rights of the young footballer by resorting to the Arbitral Tribunal of Sport in Lausanne, obtaining the December 19, 2017 on sentence December 19, 2017, the victory over the proceedings to the detriment of the Genoese club, which is obliged to pay the total sum of 1 million euros plus interest as per the contract initially signed with the Cypriot club. [7]
From 2015 to 2017, he contributed to enriching Turkish football through the transfer of champions such as Mario Gómez, Samir Nasri, Jérémy Ménez, Johan Djourou, Sandro Raniere Guimaraes Cordeiro [8], while in the summer of 2019 he brought the young footballer Eljif Elmas to the Napoli Calcio [9] for the record figure in the history of Fenerbahce for a transfer of a footballer of 16 million euros plus bonus. [10]
In September 2020 he contributed to the transfer of Timothy Castagne from Atalanta to Leicester. [11]
