Ganesan Kumaresan is an Indian biologist who serves as a Professor and Head of the Department of Genetics of School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University. [2]
Kumaresan, a gold medallist in both B.Sc. Zoology and M.Sc. Biology, completed his Ph.D. in 2002 from Madurai Kamaraj University followed by his postdoctoral fellowship from MD Anderson Cancer Center and National Cancer Centre, Singapore, in 2004 and 2008, respectively. From 2005 to 2006, he had also been working as a research associate in Agenica Research Private Ltd., Singapore. [1]
He is the founder of the Cancer Genomics & Molecular Therapeutics Laboratory at the School of Biological Sciences of Madurai Kamaraj University. It was recognized as a Unit of Excellence in Cancer Genomics by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India from 2015 onwards. [1] He is most noted being a part of ancient DNA research which is led by Harvard University in collaboration with Madurai Kamaraj University. He collaborated with David Reich of Harvard Medical School for ancient DNA. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
He was a recipient of the Bettyann Asche-Murray Grant Award from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas in 2004. [1]
