Ed Brand is a former football player and current UEFA Pro Licensed Football coach. Brand is currently working at Chelsea Football Club.
Brand represented Chelsea Football Club Academy from 1997–2005 captaining the U18 side & representing Chelsea's reserve teams. [1] [2] During this time Brand represented England six times at U16 & U17 levels captaining England on one occasion & helping the lift the 2003 victory shield. [3] In 2005, Brand attended San Jose State University on a full scholarship as part of their soccer program. Brand captained the university for 3 years as well as obtaining a major degree in broadcast journalism & a minor in political science. [4]
In 2009 Brand returned to Chelsea to start his coaching career working as an assistant to the U12 age group. Brand worked his way up through the age groups in the Academy. In 2016 he was named as Jody Morris assistant manage [5]r to Chelsea U18's. During their two seasons working together the team won seven trophies out of seven [6] including two FA Youth cups. In 2018 Brand was appointed assistant manager to the U23 development squad at Chelsea working alongside Joe Edwards. During this season team finished runners up in the U19 UEFA Youth League losing to Porto 3–1 in the final. [7]
In 2019 Brand was appointed Head Coach of the Chelsea U18's [8] [9]. A position he held for 3 years winning the U18 Premier league Cup [10] [11] [12] and finishing runner up in the FA Youth Cup Final to Manchester City. [13]
In 2022 Brand joined Swindon Town as Assistant manager working alongside Jody Morris again [14]. [15] [16]
In 2023 Brand returned back to Chelsea and took up a role as loan coach working alongside Carlo Cudicini. [17] [18] [19]
