Duncan Fulton is a Canadian executive in the quick service food industry and formerly in retail and politics. He is the chief corporate officer of Restaurant Brands International, [1] the parent company of Tim Hortons, Burger King, Popeyes and Firehouse Subs, and chairman of the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps charity. [2] He is a media spokesperson for Restaurant Brands International [3] and its various brands.
Fulton was born in 1975 in New Brunswick, Canada. In 1996, Fulton attended the University of New Brunswick and holds a Master of Business Administration from Ivey Business School at University of Western Ontario.[ citation needed]
Fulton began his career in politics as a communications officer to then-New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna between 1994 and 1997 and Press Secretary for former Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty between 1997 and 1999, while McGuinty was leader of the Official Opposition for the Ontario Liberal Party.[ citation needed]
He then became Director of Communications for the Minister of the Canadian International Development Agency before becoming a communication advisor and spokesperson for then- Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien. [1]
In 2003, Fulton joined the international public relations and marketing agency Fleishman-Hillard and went on to become the General Manager and Senior Partner of the firm’s Toronto office.[ citation needed]
Between 2009 and 2018, Fulton was an executive at Canadian Tire Corporation, [4] holding several roles including Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Chief Marketing Officer, [5] and President of its sports division, which included the Sport Chek, Sports Experts, Atmosphere, National Sports and Pro Hockey Life brands.
In 2018, Fulton was appointed Chief Corporate Officer of Restaurant Brands International, [6] overseeing global communications, North American franchising, government relations and ESG initiatives. [7]
