oligarchy
What is meant by oligarchy:' In an oligarchy, power is held by a small, elite group. Unlike monarchies, members of an aristocracy do not necessarily obtain their status based on ties to aristocratic lineage. Rather, they may come into positions of power because of military power, economic power, or similar circumstances. Some examples of modern oligarchy are found in countries like Russia, China, Iran.
