The company began in Fiji in 1985 with a single radio station FM96 which covered the capital Suva City. Navtarang opened in 1989 catering for the Indo-Fijian audience. VITI FM opened in 1996 and targets the native audience and broadcasts in the i-Taukei language. Legend FM was launched in 2002 broadcasting English songs and targets an older audience. The fifth radio station is RADIO Sargam launched in 2004 broadcasting in Hindustani and and targets an older Indo-Fijian audience [3]. CFL (Fiji) also owns and operates news brand fijivillage [4], event management company Total Event Company (Fiji) [5] and production house Magic Factory (Fiji) [6].
CFL also owns PNG FM [7] which runs 3 radio stations in Papua New Guinea. Nau FM launched in 1994 and broadcasts in English which targets a younger audience. YUMI FM broadcasts in Tok Pisin and is targeted towards the native audience. Legend FM (PNG) similar to her sister radio station in Fiji broadcasts in English and targets an older audience [8].
