The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) is the accrediting body for dental, advanced dental and allied dental post-secondary education programs in the United States. [1] CODA is part of American Dental Association and is recognized by the United States Department of Education. [2] Programs accredited by CODA are recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada and vice versa.
CODA currently accredits [3] CODA accredits four types of allied programs: dental hygiene, dental assisting, dental laboratory technology, and dental therapy. [4]
CODA was established in 1975. Prior to that, since 1938, the ADA's Council on Dental Education served as the accrediting body for dental programs.
