CitrusAd is a digital ad serving company that integrates its Software as a Service based technology platform with first-party, retailer data to create what is now commonly known as retail media networks. [2] [1] [3]
The company was founded by Brad Moran and Nick Paech in 2017. [3] [4] The company enables retailers to monetize their digital assets (from their own websites and apps). [3] CitrusAd as a platform uses a real-time relevancy engine to display personalized ads to shoppers. [5]
CitrusAd allows its users to launch ad campaigns (including display and sponsored product ads as a result of on-site search) from a single, self-serve, platform featuring measurement capabilities tied to sales for closed-loop, transparent reporting on ROAS (return on ad spend). As a result, CitrusAd was named a leader in The Forrester Wave: Sell-Side Retail Media Solutions, Q3 2021 [6] and also ranked second among Deloitte Fast 50'. [7] [8]
In 2021, the company saw an abundance of growth over 2020 [4] as brands shifted their advertising budgets to follow the uptick in online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic. [9] [10] [11] The company created a media hub for retailers to band together under, GroceryOne to attract national ad budgets. GroceryOne allowed brands and agencies access to multiple grocers, representing $60B in retail sales from a single platform. [12] [11]
In July 2021, the company was subsequently acquired by Publicis Groupe for $205m. [13] [14] [15] [16]
As of 2022, CitrusAd powers ad serving for retailers with more than $2 trillion in combined annual online sales [17] and is a standalone company of the Publicis Groupe; a global leader in communication with 80,000 employees in more than 100 countries. [18] The company created the first unified platform for on-site and off-site retail media campaigns. [19] [20] [21] [22]
