Charlie Bushnell (born June 16th, 2004) [1] is an American actor of mixed ethnicity. He is best known for his role as Luke Castellan in the 2023 adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
In 2020, Bushnell played Bobby Cañero-Reed in Diary of a Future President.
Bushnell was born in Los Angeles, California and has two siblings. He is a mix of Costa Rican and Japanese on his mother's side, and Irish on his father's. [2] In a 2021 interview Bushnell explained how Stranger Things was his inspiration to pursue acting, saying "I sat down and binge-watched season 1 of Stranger Things and it just hit me like a lightning bolt… I want to do THAT!”. [3]
Bushnell made his screen debut in 2018, as Austin in the short film Je Suis Ici. He went on to star in another short film in 2020, Wetworks, playing the character Hicks. That same year, Bushnell starred in the comedy-drama television series Diary of a Future President alongside stars such as Gina Rodriguez. [4] He played Roberto "Bobby" Cañero-Reed, the elder brother of Elena (Tess Romero) who is coming to terms with his sexuality. [4] Beginning in 2023, Bushnell played Luke Castellan in the Disney+ adaptation of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson book series. [1] [5] [6] He is due to make his voice acting debut in the 2024 animated television series In the Know, as the character Chase. [7]
