Carly-Jay Metcalfe (born 1977) is a writer of memoir, poetry, and literary fiction from Queensland, Australia. Metcalfe was born with Cystic Fibrosis. She had a double lung transplant at the age of 21, and survived a rare cancer at the age of 30.

Her memoir Breath [1] was published by University of Queensland Press in 2024. It has received widespread critical acclaim from noted literary critics and writers such as Caroline Overington ( The Australian) [2], Cass Moriarty [3], Fiona Wright [4], and others. [5] [6]

She has spoken and written on her life with Cystic Fibrosis, advocacy of organ donation and transplantation, and the need to have more honest conversations about death.
