Brooke deRosa is an American composer, conductor, vocalist and filmmaker.
DeRosa was born in New York, and graduated from Washington and Lee University with a double major in music and theater, with an emphasis on vocal performance . [1]
Her first opera, “The Monkey’s Paw” premiered in 2017 in Los Angeles with Pacific Opera Project. [2]. [3] [4]
In 2018 she orchestrated and conducted Rossini’s opera “La Gazzetta” for Pacific Opera Project. The production included her re-creation of the opera's “missing quintet." [5] [6] [7]
Her 2019 operetta “Gunfight at the Not-So-OK Saloon”, a musical comedy set in the old Wild West, premiered in the Hollywood Fringe Festival. “Gunfight” garnered three awards: “Pick of the Fringe”, “The Encore Producer’s Award” and “The John Raitt Award for Best Music and Lyrics.” [8] [9]
Her opera "Alice in Wonderland" premiered in April of 2024 at The Ebell of Los Angeles. [10] [11]
DeRosa has conducted on TV’s “Scandal”, the scores for “Luke Cage” ,“Queens”, “Run This Town”, “Maggie Simpson’s Playdate With Destiny”, and albums for Amazon Music, Linear Labs, and Snoop Dogg. [12] [13]
