Bothnian Coastal Route (Finnish: Pohjanlahden rantatie) is a historic postal road which lead around the Gulf of Bothnia from Turku to Stockholm. The Ostrobothnian part of this road was built during the 17th and 18th centuries. The importance of the Bothnian coastal road grew in times when it was not possible for ships to cross the Gulf of Bothnia. [1]
The route is officially marked with brown traffic signs Rantatie Strandvägen [2]. The road received national tourism certification from the Finnish Transport Agency in 2010. [3]
