Attack on Titan is an upcoming American dark fantasy film directed by Andy Muschietti, based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Hajime Isayama. The film is to be produced by David Heyman, Barbara Muschietti, and Masi Oka.
Attack on Titan is set to be released theatrically in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures.
"The story follows humans living behind a wall through generations to keep themselves safe from the alien Titans. However, curious as to what is beyond the wall, they form a scouting mission. It is not long before they find themselves battling the Titans as they try to save humanity once again." [1]
It was reported in January 2017 that Warner Bros. Pictures was negotiating a deal to acquire the film rights for producer David Heyman. [1] However Kodansha, who own the rights, quickly denied the report the same month. [2] In October 2018, Warner Bros. eventually closed a deal, announcing Andy Muschietti as director, with Masi Oka and Barbara Muschietti joining Heyman as producers. [3] Muschietti, having seen the anime in addition to reading the manga, stated that the draw for him to direct was the human drama of the characters, calling it “fascinating”. [4]
