Artem Olegovich Marshak (born September 25, 1992, in the village of Linovitsa, Pryluky district, Chernihiv region, Ukraine) is a Russian blacksmith, painter, sculptor, and metalworker. He is known for his works of art, organizing blacksmith festivals, and participating in numerous international exhibitions and festivals. Member of the Guild of Blacksmiths of Russia, member of the Union of Blacksmiths of Russia, Guest of Honor of the Union of Blacksmiths of Argentina (Forjadores Argentinos), Member of the Association of Blacksmiths of the USA ABANA [1]
Early life and education
Artem Marshak was born in a Ukrainian family. He graduated from the School of Arts #6 named after Zhukovsky, Kyiv [2] He received a bachelor's degree in Art Metal at the Boychuk Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design [3]. He continued independent studies with such famous artists as Vladimir Yurievich Sokhonevich [4], Sergey Vladimirovich Verkeenko [5], Ruslan Vadimovich Vorobyov and Vasily Alexandrovich Kondurov [6].
Main works and achievements
Marshak has participated in more than 70 art exhibitions and 50 forging and art festivals and won more than 15 competitions. He also served on panels of judges at various events. Artem has also organized several blacksmithing festivals and workshops for professionals and amateurs. In 2013, Artem's sculpture "Ichkha Shakhti" was accepted into the fund of the Museum of the Boychuk Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design in Kyiv. Among Marshak's significant projects are the sculpture "Bird Talker" [7] and "Pen Bench" [8] in Vologda. In 2014, his team forged a firebird feather, from which they lit the flame for the relay of the Paralympic Games in Sochi [9]. In the city of Vologda, Ustyuzhna, and other cities of Russia. There are several objects in the creation of which Artem took part in the team, or led the working group. For example, "Posidim pookaem", "Door to..." [10], "Three spruce tree", "Bench with a squirrel", others. In March 2018, the first solo exhibition of Marshak together with Elizaveta Polikashina, called "Steel Sketches", was held [11]. In June 2022, Artem was approached by the Department of Culture of the Poshekhonsky District of the city of Poshekhonye as a well-known artist with the task of creating a cultural image of the region and developing its tourist attractiveness. After that, together with Elizaveta Polikashina, they made an art object in the city center, in the style of "Gayutinsky painting" [12]. The sculpture of Kukaracha is on permanent display at the La Cucaracha Museum in Adroga, Argentina. It is located at the main entrance to the museum with a plaque with his name on it [13] Artem also organized a blacksmith festival in Baradero, Argentina, in conjunction with Forjadores Argentinos, creating a sculpture based on his design. The object is kept in the Forjadores Argentinos Foundation and is exhibited at each of their events to demonstrate the performance of blacksmithing. His sculpture "Icarus" was accepted for permanent exhibition at the Perlotti Museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina. [14] In 2024, he was a guest demonstrator at the ABANA conference, where he spoke among professionals making a 16-foot sculpture "Memento Mori".
