And The Kids was an American-Canadian indie pop, psychedelic, and indie folk band formed by Hannah Mohan, Rebecca Lasaponaro, and Megan Miller in 2012. They released their debut album Turn To Each Other in 2015, followed by Friends Share Lovers in 2016 and When This Life Is Over in 2019.
Hannah Mohan and Rebecca Lasaponaro met in seventh grand in band class, played in several different bands while in junior and high school. [1] They formed And The Kids in 2012 after meeting keyboardist Megan Miller while enrolled at the Institute for the Musical Arts in Goshen, Massachusetts. [2] In 2015, they released their debut studio album, Turn To Each Other.
Their subsequent studio album, Friends Share Lovers, was recorded in Montreal due to Miller being deported to Canada in 2014. [3] [4] [5] On October 4, 2017, And The Kids released the song "2003", shortly before embarking on their headlining "Dont Die" tour of the eastern United States, with the band Kalbells as an opening act. [6]
On November 13, 2018, And The Kids released the single "Champagne Ladies" and announced their third studio album, titled When This Life Is Over. [7] The album's second single "No Way Sit Back", was released on January 15, 2019. [8] The song is about not seeing yourself represented in media, and a celebration of being an 'other'. [9] The video for "No Way Sit Back", released the same day as the album, features Mohan, Lasaponaro, and Miller performing as various short video clips play in the background. When This Life Is Over was released on February 22, 2019. Paste's Eric Danton gave the album a 7.9 out of 10, and described their sound as "buoyant, and also intimate." [10]
On February 21, 2024, Hannah Mohan released her first solo single "Time Is A Walnut".
In 2015, The Wall Street Journal named And The Kids as one of their 8 Music Acts to Watch. [1]
