Diamond Tema received death threats from individuals defending sharia law after discussing a hadith about Prophet Muhammad on a YouTube program. [15]
Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement on his X account. [16] Tunç recalled that an official investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility" due to the insulting, offensive, and provocative expressions used in the videos he shared on social media.
Tunç stated that an arrest warrant was issued for Diamond Tema due to his presence in Albania. "Provocative, and offensive expressions about the religion of Islam and our beloved Prophet can never be accepted" he said. [17] [18] [19] [20]
Diamond Tema acted in many TV series and films in Turkey during his childhood, but later quit acting because his school friends were jealous of him. When he was 15 years old, he and his family moved to Greece due to the deterioration of his family's financial situation. When he moved to Greece with his family, Tema could not find a job due to Greece's economic crisis, and as a last resort, he worked illegally in a soap factory. He also learned Greek during the 2-year period he lived in Greece. He returned to Turkey when he was 17 years old, but his family's economic problems continued. Meanwhile, he did not want to return to his old acting career in Turkey and worked in many different jobs, but later worked as an assistant director on a local television generally. So he worked as a director's assistant (cameraman) on many different televisions for 2-3 years and supported his family financially. After being psychologically overwhelmed by his intense work schedule, he quit working as a cameraman and enlisted in the military (Turkish army) at his 20s. While he had many choices and chances not to go to the military, he rejected all of them and did his military service for 1 year in the Syrian border of Şırnak (2014-2015), as he decided by himself. At his 21, his military service ended and he returned home. He devoted himself entirely to research for 5-6 months, during which he read many books and took notes. He had a lot of notes and he didn't want them to be lost, so he started blogging and later wrote articles in Medium, then he published many articles in 2 years. At his 21, he moved to Italy to work, but we don't know which city he went to and what job he did there. After staying in Italy for 2 years, he returned to Turkey and started acting again. He acted again for 1,5 years, and the articles he wrote during this time were widely read by people. At the same time, some YouTubers were making videos of his articles, in other words, they were stealing his works. They also never said that they got it from Diamond Tema. Since Diamond Tema was not happy with this situation, he decided to turn his own articles into videos and started YouTube in 2019. Since he wanted to make YouTube a profession and he couldn't be an actor and a YouTuber at the same time, he quit acting compeletely and spent all his time on YouTube. [21] [22] Diamond Tema, which has been sharing videos on YouTube for 5 years and shares at least 1 video every week, has 1 million subscribers today.
