Deer Creek Township was organized in 1842. [5] Deer Creek Township was named from Deer Creek, which was named from herds of wild deer that were often seen near its banks. [6]
According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 36.13 square miles (93.6 km2), all land. [4]
The township contains three cemeteries: Harness, Hoover-Snider and Miller.
