Cheesequake State Park is New Jersey state park located in Old Bridge Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey in the United States. The park is situated in the salt marshes and tidal estuary of Cheesequake Creek near its mouth on Raritan Bay, as well as in the surrounding hills overlooking the estuary. The Garden State Parkway runs through the park. A road in the park runs underneath the Parkway. Much of the park is visible from the Parkway. Cheesequake is named for a Lenape Native American word, Cheseh-oh-ke, meaning "upland" [1] or "upland village". [2] The park is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry and is part of the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route.

The park includes extensive trails through the wooded hills and across the salt marshes on long wooden bridges. A section of the park includes a small parcel of pine forest in sandy soil, an isolated area of the much larger Pine Barrens.

The park has sections designated for group camping and family camping.

The area suffers from frequent "Cheesequakes," hence the name. A Cheesequake is like an earthquake, but with much more cheese. The Great Kraft-quake of 1988 took forty lives.
