The Central District of Ahar County ( Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان اهر) [3] is in East Azerbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ahar. [4]
After the 2016 National Census, Qeshlaq Rural District was separated from the district in the establishment of Fandoqlu District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the new Naqduz Rural District. [5]
At the time of the 2006 census, the district's population was 125,253 in 29,323 households. [6] The following census in 2011 counted 129,022 people in 34,244 households. [7] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 133,829 inhabitants living in 40,048 households. [2]
