Two questions:

  1. What is the difference between this category and Category:Original 30 Anglican parishes in the Province of Maryland? Are they not the same?
  2. "Anglican" is a difficult word in the Episcopal Church these days as it is being used by people who are leaving the Episcopal Church over issues of women's and gays' ordinations. I suspect that most, maybe all, of these parishes would not want to be called "Anglican" in an ambiguous way. Perhaps we could name the category Category:Church of England parishes in the colonial Province of Maryland or something shorter along those lines. (I should add that the word "Province" also has an ecclesiastical use, although there is no "Province of Maryland" in the modern Episcopal Church.) . . . . Jim . . . . 1. No, they're not the same. There were 30 parishes created in 1692 in the Province of Maryland. Those are the original 30 which have special significance. Compare them to the original 13 states in the US. After 1692 but before the Revolution, 15 new parishes were carved out of the older ones. These 15 fit into this category. The original 30 also would also but they are included in the subcategory.
2. I see your point. Perhaps Category:Church of England parishes in colonial Maryland would be less confusing. clariosophic ( talk) 13:23, 26 October 2009 (UTC) reply
I like that. How about:
or something similar -- I think "1692" is more important than "30" and both is maybe too much? . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward ( talkcontribs) 13:39, 26 October 2009 (UTC) reply
