This category includes both protocols that are part of the OSI set of protocols and layers in the OSI model. Not all protocols that are put into particular OSI layers are OSI protocols; should there be a separate "OSI protocol layers" category, with just the seven layers in them? I think we should be clear that OSI protocol means a protocol which belongs to the OSI protocol suite, so protocols like TCP or HTTP or SMTP are not OSI protocols. The OSI model is intended to be a comprehensive classification of computer networking protocols, so every protocol fits into it somewhere (although, for many protocol suites like TCP/IP which were not designed with this model in mind, its a bit of an ill-fit, with many protocols spanning OSI layers). To label every protocol which can be understood via the OSI model as an "OSI protocol" is to render that phrase useless, since then every protocol would be an OSI protocol. So this category should be reserved for protocols belonging to the OSI protocol suite only. SJK ( talk) 23:58, 30 April 2016 (UTC) reply
