Other X people of Y descent cats do not explicitly require individuals included to be citizens of X
There is a strong consensus that Irish people should refer to those of that island, not only those of one of the modern states of that island.
I have brought this cat into line with all the others. If there is a reason England should be unique in this regard, then, of course, this could be reconsidered.

And I have brought it inline with Category:English people of Irish descent in such as only people who havestated their origin are added. BigDunc 11:09, 27 October 2009 (UTC)reply
Disagree with that change, BigDunc. (Although it wouldn't keep Pearse out of the category - he discusses his English heritage in "My Childhood")

Dunc's change essentially comes down to
WP:V, which goes without saying really, but I don't have a problem with stating it.

Disagree that they should be deleted. They should continue and be applied to people who clearly fit into them.

I told him that today. I would endorse deletion. BigDunc 20:06, 27 October 2009 (UTC)reply
As would I, though I doubt that would be the consensus.

I'll have to abort my plans. I found the CfD page, but I don't understand the mechanics behind setting this up. I've never nominated anything for deletion before.

This category is a joke. Tubridy, I am sure, has French ancestry and much else - much like most people in Ireland. Where does it end; when we have [insert nationality] of African descent and every human in the planet is in it?
