This should probably be renamed Category:Application automation or Category:Software automation. Usually "GUI automation" tools are thought of as distinct from "web-app automation" tools, since one is implemented as a browser plugin or browser wrapper, while the other uses black magic on the UI subsystem of the OS. From an automation-script-writer standpoint, the techniques for automating one vs another are very different (with web apps, you have DOM... with GUIs, things are very much less standardized). But this category somehow lumps web automation tools in with GUI automation tools.
Furthermore, there are [tiny number of] application-automation tools that don't work with GUIs at all; Expect is the clearest example. -- Hirsutism ( talk) 13:22, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
