Can we assume that every island is an ecoregion? I'm tempted to put
Category:Islands as a subcat of this cat, and then remove all the islands from this cat. —

I don't think it's that simple, tho' it probably depends on how you define ecoregions--at this
[1] scale, I'd say clearly not. On a more granular scale, relatively large, somewhat isolated islands like
Sri Lanka or
Iceland might be considered distinct ecoregions. But I really doubt each island of the
Azores,
Galapagos,
Hawaii, or
Maldives is its own ecoregion, but I don't think each entire group is necessarily one single unique ecoregion, either. And coastal groups like the
San Juan Islands seem likely to have some overlap with either neighboring islands or groups, and/or parts of the mainland coast.
