It is not customary to include the date name in categories of present entities as you ( User:Laurel Lodged) have done in Category:Districts of Northern Ireland, 2015-present. I request that you propose this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Northern Ireland before proceeding any further. jnestorius( talk) 13:29, 6 January 2016 (UTC) reply

My intention was that "Districts of Northern Ireland" should be a container for the two periods as the retention of the name "District" can only be a source of confusion. Maling the two explicit in a container makes such confusion less likely IMHO. Laurel Lodged ( talk) 13:32, 6 January 2016 (UTC) reply
I think it is enough to have two categories, one for the current and one for the former. Adding a third category adds confusion rather than removing it. jnestorius( talk) 13:52, 6 January 2016 (UTC) reply
What about Belfast? It's in both time periods. To include it in a former category would give the impression that it not an ongoing entity. To exclude it from former would give the impression that it was not part of the 2015 reform. The threefold arrangement allows for both periods to be valid for Belfast. By the way, won't Category:Council elections in Northern Ireland require similar treatment by period? Laurel Lodged ( talk) 13:34, 6 January 2016 (UTC) reply
Really the supercat for elections should be Category:Local authorities of Northern Ireland rather than Category:Districts of Northern Ireland to allow for pre-1973 (county, county district, and town commissioners) such as Belfast Corporation election, 1920. There could be subcats within that. jnestorius( talk) 13:52, 6 January 2016 (UTC) reply
