What's the rationale for this category? The only formally recognised administrative Districts are now historical entities (ie Metropolitan Boroughs are larger than and not the same as Districts). There is also a List of Places in Greater Manchester. Don't these two categories one duplicate the other? Are both needed? If so, why? Cosmopolitancats 01:56, 9 March 2007 (UTC) reply

Its inline with national consistency. Every county of England on Wikipedia has one of these (worded to a simillar effect). List of places in Greater Manchester is an article, not a category, thus no duplication exists here. See WP:CAT for an explanation of why categories are needed.
