why are these templates in this category? The category should only contain actual articles about arabic letters. dab () 14:17, 8 January 2006 (UTC) reply

Because this is an established convention for categorizing Wikipedia templates for individual letters. See also Category:Wikipedia Hebrew templates. - Gilgamesh 16:39, 8 January 2006 (UTC) reply

I was going to use this category name for articles on letters. Are you saying I should remove these? I don't get the point of these templates anyway, how is typing subst:Template:Arabkhaa quicker than just copy-pasting خ? In any case, "template categories" should have their own namespace to avoid such clashes. dab () 14:11, 11 January 2006 (UTC) reply

Well, not everyone can just copy and paste Arabic letters on the fly. Users can add the templates, and eventually they'll be robot-SUBST'ed to the real letters. Wikipedia is not currently set for template categories though. May I suggest adding the letter entries to Category:Arabic alphabet? - Gilgamesh 04:41, 12 January 2006 (UTC) reply

What about using Category:Wikipedia Arabic templates, along the lines of the Hebrew solution? And, more to the point, what about using MediaWiki:Edittools instead of the templates? dab () 17:49, 17 January 2006 (UTC) reply

Category:Wikipedia Arabic templates sounds like a good idea. We should certainly have articles on individual arabic letters, and they should certainly go in this category. (Actually, what's the difference between Category:Arabic alphabet and Category:Arabic letters?) dbenbenn | talk 22:36, 26 January 2006 (UTC) reply
Dbenbenn, I don't think simple redirects work for templates the same way they do for articles. - Gilgamesh 22:59, 26 January 2006 (UTC) reply
They do. Try it. Anyway, I finished moving all the templates to Category:Wikipedia Arabic templates, and I added all the letters listed in Template:Arabic alphabet to this category. Should the letter articles be sorted under the actual Arabic letter the article represents? dbenbenn | talk 17:06, 27 January 2006 (UTC) reply
