Emigrants from the Ottoman Empire (1299–1922/1923) to either the First Hellenic Republic or the Kingdom of Greece. Thus they have to leave the Ottoman Empire no earlier than 1822 and migrate to an area which was part of an independent Greek state. Many of these people were ethnic Greeks, and some moved to then Greece from areas that later became part of the Greek state.
