From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aegotheliformes are a monotypic bird order traditionally placed as the family Aegothelidae in the order Caprimulgiformes. Recent research suggests that they are close to the Apodiformes and morphologically not unlike the birds from which swifts and hummingbirds evolved. They are now considered a distinct order, as has first been proposed as early as 1967.
