Bordegassos, 3 of 7 in front of Ajuntament during Festa Major 2012

The Bordegassos de Vilanova is a castell from Vilanova i la Geltrú founded in 1972. The color of the shirt identifying the colla is groc terrós ( earth yellow), unique among colles of castellers in Catalonia. [1]

From its inception, the colla (crew) showed innovative leadership in achieving gender equality in the traditionally male activity, and later worked to include new migrants and people with disabilities [2]

The Bordegassos de Vilanova reached their peak during the Major Festival of Vilanova, in August 1, 1999. The Bordegassos de Vilanova completed their first nine-level castle: a three of nine, followed by a four of eight with needle, a five of eight and the pillar of seven, all of them successfully loaded (carregat) and unloaded (decaragat). [1]

The Colla maintains a club house at Plaça Casernes 2, publishes the magazine L'Aleta, and organizes or contributes to many community events, notably the Manani Rock FM music festival. [3] [4]

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations in 2022, The Bordegassos de Vilanova was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi, one of Catalonia's highest civil distinctions. [5] The award was for '50 years of conserving and sharing the cultural heritage of Vilanova and Catalonia.'
