The village is located in the Bolshaya Kuritsa River basin (a right tributary of the Seym River), 101 km from the Russia–Ukraine border, 29 km north-west of Kursk, 17 km south-east of the district center – the town Fatezh, 2 km from the selsoviet center – Bolshoye Zhirovo. [7]
Biryukovka has a warm-summer humid continental climate (Dfb in the Köppen climate classification).
