Bauhinia monandra is a species of leguminous trees, of the family Fabaceae. [3] Common names include pink bauhinia, [4] orchid tree, [4] and Napoleon's plume. [4] The tree is native to Madagascar, where it is widespread in lowland humid forests and dry forests. [1] It has naturalised in Myanmar, Australia, Christmas Island, the Caribbean, southern USA, Colombia, Brazil, and the Pacific Islands. [3] [5] The species is invasive in New Caledonia. [6]
