Ava ( Persian: آوا) is a city in Samalqan District of Samalqan County, North Khorasan province, Iran. The city was formed in July 2013 from the merger of two villages in Qazi Rural District: Shahrabad-e Khavar and Shahrabad-e Kord. [3]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the population (as the total of the two villages before their merger) was 3,615 in 927 households. [4] The following census in 2011 counted 4,058 people in 1,187 households. [5] The 2016 census measured the population as 3,993 people in 1,268 households, [2] by which time the two villages had been merged to establish the new city of Ava. [3]
