Amanda Davies is a social scientist working in the field of demography, population geography and rural and regional development. [1]
She is currently a professor and head of school at the University of Western Australia's School of Social Sciences, [1] and Adjunct Professor, at Curtin University's School of Molecular and Life Sciences. [2]
She also is one of Australia's leading public commentators on population and demographic issues and she also closely works with the Australian government and she is currently a principal investigator on 5 major projects, including: [1]
Davies began her position at UWA in 2020, prior to which she was Senior Lecturer in the Department of Planning and Geography at Curtin University. [3] She is also the youngest person to be appointed as a full professor of Geography at UWA and the first female to be appointed as the head of the School of Social Sciences. [1]
Davies has a Bachelors of Science from UWA, a Doctor of Philosophy from New England. [1]
In 2016 she and Samantha Hall were part of a mission to Antarctica. [4] [5] [6]
