Ama is a 2021 Spanish drama film directed by Júlia de Paz Solvas which stars Tamara Casellas, also featuring Leire Marín, Estefanía de los Santos and Ana Turpin.
The plot, a deconstruction of the idea of idyllic motherhood, [1] follows Pepa, an irresponsible and foul-mouthed mother of a six-year-old daughter, [2] Leila.
The screenplay was penned by Júlia de Paz Solvas alongside Nuria Dunjó, [5] adapting to a feature film format the short film of the same name made by Júlia de Paz Solvas. [6] The film was produced by La Dalia Films alongside Ama Movie AIE. [5] Filming lasted from March to June 2020, with an hiatus caused by the COVID-19 disruption.
