Agama Yoga is a yoga school founded by Swami Vivekananda Saraswati, a Romanian yoga instructor born as Narcis Tarcău. The school is located on the island of Koh Pha Ngan in Thailand. In 2018, Agama also had centers in India, Colombia and Austria. [1]

Narcis Tarcău was, since 1981, part of MISA, a Romanian yoga school founded by Gregorian Bivolaru and he founded NATHA, the MISA branch in Denmark. [2] [3] He was a student and instructor at the MISA Yoga School until 1998. [4] He lived in India for 4 years, until 2002. [5] Tarcău founded Agama after he left India. [6]

In 2018, Narcis Tarcău was accused by at least 14 yoga students of sexual assault and rape. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]

In 2020, the case was presented in (Un)Well - a Netflix 6 episode docu-series, in the second episode, which covers the topic of tantric sex. [12] [13]

He was also accused of incorporating dangerous health theories into the school's curriculum, including saying that women didn't need treatments for cancer as long as they followed his teachings. [14] [15]

Fourteen women and two men told The Guardian newspaper that Agama facilitated a culture of fear, misogyny and sexual assault, with some going so far as to call it a "sex cult. [16] The former pupils told the newspaper Tarcău would tell his students that having sex with him would "heal" their spirits, unlock a pathway to enlightenment and cure "sexual blockages. [16]
