The 58th Ohio Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
The 58th Ohio Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio and mustered in for three years service on January 28, 1862, [1] [2] under the command of Colonel Valentine Bausenwein. [1]
The regiment was attached to 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, Army of the Tennessee, to July 1862. Helena, Arkansas, District of Eastern Arkansas, to November 1862. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, District of Eastern Arkansas, Department of the Tennessee, to December 1862. [3] 1st Brigade, 11th Division, Right Wing, XIII Corps, Department of the Tennessee, to December 1862. [4] 1st Brigade, 4th Division, Sherman's Yazoo Expedition, to January 1863. [5] 1st Brigade, 1st Division, XV Corps, Army of the Tennessee, to February 1863. Detached duty on ironclads for Mississippi River Squadron to September 1863. 1st Brigade 1st Division, XVII Corps, to September 1864. Post and defenses of Vicksburg, Mississippi, to September 1865.

The regiment lost a total of 305 men during service; 3 officers and 85 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded, 2 officers and 215 enlisted men died of disease.
