American college football season
The 1989 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the
University of Iowa in the
1989 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Hawkeyes played their home games at
Kinnick Stadium and were led by head coach
Hayden Fry. Iowa finished with a 5–6 record (3–5 Big Ten) and failed to make a bowl for the first time since the
1980 season.
