The 1939 Star World Championship was held in Kiel, Germany in 1939, organised by Yacht-Club von Deutschland and Norddeutscher Regatta Verein. [1]
The championship regatta started on Sunday 20 August 1939. [2] Walter von Hütschler and Edgar Beyn were the winners when the racing concluded the Friday after. [1] [3]
21 teams from 8 nations were present. [1] Swedish boat Unn was sailed by Arvid Laurin and Alban Verne. [2]
von Hütschler won the first race on Monday 21 August. [4]
The crew of the Dutch boat Bem II, Henny Scholtz, was sent home for military duty and replaced. [1] On Thursday 24 August, Dutch, French, and British crews were notified to return home by their consulates. [1]
