Mililani Mauka is a census-designated place (CDP) in Honolulu County, Hawaii on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii, United States. As of the 2020 census, the CDP had a population of 21,075.

History

Mililani Mauka is a planned community adjacent to Mililani Town, both situated about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of the center of Honolulu. Ground was broken for Mililani Mauka on April 6, 1990, east of Interstate H-2 from Mililani Town. The first homeowners moved into Mauka in 1992. The community is the future site of the Oahu Arts Center.

Geography

Mililani Mauka is located at 21°28′32″N 157°59′40″W / 21.47556°N 157.99444°W / 21.47556; -157.99444 (21.4756, -157.9947). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10.3 km2), all land. [2] Mililani Mauka lies within the ʻEwa Moku on Oʻahu, more specifically the Waipiʻo Ahupuaʻa. [3]

Demographics

As of the 2020 census, there were 21,075 people, 7,655 housing units, and 7,432 families. The population density was 5,276.7 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup was 15.1% White (2,881 people), 3.0% African American (452), 0.3% Native American (32), 54.4% Asian (10,422), 2.9% Pacific Islander (627), and 22.9% from two or more races (6,344). Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 9.8% of the population (2,079 people). [4] [5]

The ancestry was 4.5% German, 4.4% English, 4.0% Irish, 1.6% Portuguese, 1.5% Italian, 0.7% French, 0.7% Swedish, and 0.6% Danish. [5]

The median age was 37.9 years old. 25.2% of the population were under 18, and 5.6% were under 5. 10.0% of the population were 65 or older, with 5.9% between the ages of 65 and 74, 2.8% between the ages of 75 and 84, and 1.3% were 85 or older. The gender makeup was 49.5% female and 50.5% male. [4] [5]

The median household income was $119,981, with families having $136,755, married couples having $145,145, and non-families having $59,413. 2.8% of the population was in poverty, with 2.8% of people under 18, 2.6% of people between the ages of 18 and 64, and 4.0% of people 65 or older were in poverty.
