The following is the guidelines which tries to help editors improve the quality of Wikipedia's articles within scope of American television related articles. For Wikipedia guidelines regarding how to write about fiction in general, see Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction). These are only guidelines and may be altered depending on current Wikipolicies and/or project participant consensus.

banner. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to help in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work. They also play a role in the
WP:1.0 program, which the WikiProject uses to help automate some of the assessing process.

The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{ WikiProject Television}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:American television articles by quality. WP:1.0 also produces a statistics page, and a log of articles assessed.
