Notice of obsolescence:
Community sanctions in this area of conflict have been superseded by an Arbitration Committee sanctions regime. As a result, this community sanctions-related page is now obsolete, is retained only for historical reference, and should not be modified. For more information about Arbitration Committee sanctions, see this page. For the specific Committee decision that rescinded or modified these community sanctions, see  Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Abortion (closed on 27 November 2011).

Following an ANI discussion, all abortion articles, broadly construed (as a topic), are subject to 1RR (1 revert per 24 hours per user per page (except for obvious vandalism). Additionally, uninvolved administrators have the ability to impose sanctions on disruptive editors in this topic area for actions including, but not limited to, edit warring, personal attacks, excessive incivility and assumptions of bad faith. Sanctions are also specifically authorised for any WP:BLP violations in the topic area. Uninvolved administrators can independently impose sanctions, including escalating blocks or topic bans of up to three months, provided the individual has been notified of the terms of this scheme and possible sanctions (The template {{subst:Uw-probation|Article|Probation terms page}} can be used for ease) Indefinite topic bans can be proposed at WP:AN or at ANI as the result of discussion of specific incident.

  • All sanctions imposed under this provision are to be logged below and may be appealed to the imposing administrator, the appropriate administrators' noticeboard, or the Arbitration Committee.

Log of sanctions

Log any sanctions that are imposed.

Additional revert restriction (for editors who breach 1RR after knowing that the topic is subject to 1RR)
  • RR: User is formally required to discuss any reversions made on pages in the topic - such discussion should occur on the talk page of the page (eg; discussion should occur on Talk: Abortion for a reversion that was made on the Abortion page). Should the editor then breach the 1RR or fail to discuss a reversion as required, they may be further sanctioned.
Topic ban
  • TB: User is banned from the topic area.

List of sanctioned editors

Log user name and any action taken with regards to this probation. Where a ban is lifted, the entry may not be removed - it may be striken, with a separate entry of name of admin or diff where ## was lifted; basis for removing from list; diff of notification to user. As with all pages, use common sense. The following information should be provided:

  • User name. RR (expiry date). TB (expiry date).
    • Name of administrator who imposed RR; scheduled expiry date (cannot exceed 3 months); basis for RR; [diff of notification to user|timestamp].
    • Name of administrator who imposed RR; rescheduled expiry date (such as when clock is reset for stale violation - remember to update the expiry date that is next to the user's name); basis for amended expiry date; [diff of notification to user|timestamp].
    • Name of administrator who imposed TB; duration; basis for TB; [diff of notification to user|timestamp].
      • Blocked for (duration not exceeding 3 months); diff of violation or summary of why conduct was considered to be violation; sign.
      • Unblocked; summary of why unblock was granted; sign.
    • Name of administrator who lifted TB; basis for lifting TB; [diff of notification to user|timestamp].
