The English Arbitration Committee privately handles appeals (i) from editors who are subject to an {{ OversightBlock}} or a {{ Checkuserblock}}; (ii) from editors who are blocked for reasons that are unsuitable for public discussion; and (iii) from editors blocked or banned by Arbitration and Arbitration Enforcement decisions. The figures below do not include appeals dismissed without committee discussion/action and which are not tracked (e.g. an appeal which comes immediately after a previous appeal was declined or if the appelant does not respond to a request by the committee for further information).

The quarters indicated are for the following dates:

  1. January 1 to March 31,
  2. April 1 to June 30,
  3. July 1 to September 30,
  4. October 1 to December 31.

Note that as of 14 February 2024, the Arbitration Committee no longer routinely hears appeals of CheckUser blocks, which previously formed the overwhelming majority of appeals that the Committee had considered.

Notes

  1. ^ Appeals may be declined for lack of merit, as out of scope, withdrawn or for other reasons.
  2. ^ When accepted, resolution may include overturning a block, offering a standard offer or rope unblock, an arbitrator taking action as an individual administrator or checkuser, or downgrading a block so that it may be handled by the community. This includes any appeals publicly voted upon. It also includes any appeals accepted by an individual Checkuser after an inquiry into the block by ArbCom.
  3. ^ This is the minimum number of appeals that were open on January 1, 2021. Some appeals considered open at the start of the period were closed as neither accepted or declined after the committee did not receive a response when inquiring if the person still wished to appeal.
