Carlito

Please, don't include your editions again. The editions are the worst. First , are unsourced. Second, aren't notable. It's no necessary to include every promotion he was, more important, if every promotion hasn't the article. 3, the edition is one of the laziest I have ever seen. It's just in 201X he wrestled in XX, XX, XX, XX, XX, XX. That's not enciclopedic, it's unreadable. Imagine every other article written like that. I don't know if you're from PR. If you speak Spanish, I would explain in Spanish too. -- HHH Pedrigree ( talk) 22:51, 9 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Your revision is trash. You are creating a six-year crater because you are too lazy to actually bother filling the prose. This is not meant to be a final revision, just a guide for me to accomplish what you could have when the page was tagged. That should have been obvious, but I added a template for you. Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 20:12, 10 March 2020 (UTC) reply
Please, stop you behavior. First, the content you ar eincluding it's unsourced. And it YOUR job (not mine) to include sourced material at the moment, no days later. So, the content it's WP:UNSOURCED. Also, I read the whole article and 99% of his works in in local and minor promotions which aren't notable. Can you tell me how I would include his work in World Class Revolution or Magnum Pro Wrestling? These promotions and titles aren't notable and his matches weren't covered by media, so this content isn't notable for his inclusion. WP:WP:NOTEVERYTHING / WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Third, your first edition with this issue was on February 26, again, including a lot of content without sources. Today, it's March 11 and the content still unsourced. If you want to work in ther article, find sources, but you didn't in 14 days. 4th, MOS:USEPROSE. This is just a list of promotion whee he worked (and again, most of them aren't notable or relevant). Your edition has many problems against MOS and policies that you didn't resolved in two weeks. If you want to work in the article in that way, you have your personal sandbox. You're saying that there is a whole crater in the article, but this edition doesn't help and doesn't look good. An YOU are the one who is working, not me. Your editions are wrong, so YOU are the one who has to fix it, not others. -- HHH Pedrigree ( talk) 09:55, 11 March 2020 (UTC) reply
You're being very impolite. You're removing my explanations just because you don't want to talk and find a solution to this. -- HHH Pedrigree ( talk) 11:16, 12 March 2020 (UTC) reply
That is where you are wrong. I removed your comments because you took the, very immature, path of tagging an established user. I do not really care if my revision is perpetuated, as long as the gap that extends from 2014/2016 to the present is filled. I am perfectly willing to let a neutral user write a replacement for my own. And, in regards to being “impolite”, I recommend that you read that first message all over again and ask yourself if calling someone lazy is the right way to go. Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 21:27, 13 March 2020 (UTC) reply
I'm an established user to, editing since 2007 in Spanish Wikipedia and 2009 in English. Even that, it doesn't mean other users revert me and told me the problems of my editions. As I said, I just saw a huge section unsourced, full of no notable promotions and no notable matches and bad written. There is a several years gap, but it doesn't mean we have to fill it with everything, with every promotion. You can take the most important matches and include it, with sources. Or just a brief part "Carlito worked on several independent promotion in the US". Look other independent wrestlers like Joey Ryan, we don't include every promotion. I don't know how to include Carlito's match for PWR Catch or PPW Television titles, since the promotion and titles aren't even notable. Maybe, the problem of the gap it's that Carlito didn't have notable matches to include. -- HHH Pedrigree ( talk) 13:29, 14 March 2020 (UTC) reply
This was a skeleton for me to work with, nothing more (this was stated multiple times). I don’t need to keep all of the promotions in the final revision, but they do help me establish context for future content. The referencing issue is non existent, all but his appearance at IWA-FL can be sourced with Cagematch. But, again, that does not mean that all of them need to be included in the final revision. I don’t have issues with someone generalizing by region and only mentioning the specifics of title wins and some of the title shots. However, "Carlito worked on several independent promotion in the US” is far too shallow and would not solve the gap that led to the article being tagged with an “needs updating” template. A happy medium needs to be reached; two paragraphs for the American independents and maybe two more for international ones may work just fine. In the end, for good or worse, this is what he has been doing for a decade. And, given his jokes about wrestling in high school gyms and being paid with “paper bag money”, I’m not sure that he even cares about going back to a big stage... So, a good way to convey that needs to be formulated. Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 02:06, 15 March 2020 (UTC) reply
Weeks ago, you said you were working on the article. However, I don't see any improvement for the issues I pointed. You said I should let you wortk, but I don't see any work in two weeks. @ Doug Weller: I am disappointed by that fact that you labeled me a “fringe” editor when I specifically made a point of emphasizing that the current research falsified the “European origin” idea. The 20th Century ideas are in a different section for that very reason. You could have contacted me before putting me among the illiterati, especially if you are unfamiliar with the topic. Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 12:52, 28 May 2023 (UTC) reply
I didn't comment on you, just the article. It is a fringe article and a lot of articles that old are a problem because at that time the policies and guidelines were more lax. Thus so much use of the media, etc. I didn't expect you to take such offense and didn't mean to do so. Doug Weller talk 13:52, 28 May 2023 (UTC) reply
@ Doug Weller: Nevermind. The pieces themselves are not “fringe”, the BS theories that have been weaved around them are and they are not presented as fact. I don’t think that an article of something that has been around for that long is complete without the BS.
I do not oppose copy editing. The point of the article should be clear: 1- The first scientific studies began in the 2010s. 2- They authenticated part of the cache, using C14 dating, analysis of the surface weathering on the inscriptions, etc. 3- It also proved that the ones that had been originally classified as fake were in fact, poorly copied and had morphological differences that attested that they were both much younger and made using different methods.
The end result is that the notability is twofold, the ones that are authenticated are notable as archeological pieces and the fake ones are notable as the oldest hoax of this type documented in the Caribbean. Lax standards or not, the notability is there. How this is expressed is not concerning, removing everything that happened between point A and point B simply because it was bad science or pseudo-archeology is. Context can be used to make matters clean, I believed that was already obvious by the sectioning and language, I stand corrected. Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 14:24, 28 May 2023 (UTC) reply
I never considered the possibility they weren't notable, where did you get that idea? Doug Weller talk 14:48, 28 May 2023 (UTC) reply
I merely established the basis for the existence of the article and the reason why all of the absurd hypotheses were kept in it. Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 15:08, 28 May 2023 (UTC) reply

Clemente

Hi! So I read your topic on the Clemente talk page and I have a couple of suggestions.

Firstly, I have proposed deletion of the two seperate pages of Clemente you have made - Legacy of Roberto Clemente and List of awards and honors received by Roberto Clemente - because they may violate WP:NPOV. Clemente's accolades are just about the same as those of Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth, neither of whom have seperate pages for their accolades and legacy.

I have moved the main/important accolades and info from those pages to Roberto Clemente's main page, arranging them where appropriate. Most of the others were minor awards and not notable OR praises of Clemente from other players. Additionally, I also believe these pages will hinder any attempts at improving Clemente's page further because information is scattered over three pages.

If you still want to make Roberto Clemente into an eventual GA and then FA, you should try to put all this information into one page. Make sections where needed, add info on his career, etc. Again, I hope you don't mind. I just think those pages are unnecessary and will only prevent Clemente's main page from improving.

Edit: Just to add that awards are seperate and are associated with players only by name. For example, the Hank Aaron Award and the Cy Young Award have seperate pages like the Roberto Clemente Award does. -- Omnis Scientia ( talk) 16:01, 1 August 2023 (UTC) reply

I have removed the "youngest" winner claim, not because it isn't true, but because it cannot be verified by reliable secondary sources. Look, I love Ponce sports too, but the article needs to abide by the WP:PG. If we can find reliable secondary sources for the claim, then I am all for it.

If you don't change the article, I will ask for a Wikipedia:Good article reassessment -- HHH Pedrigree ( talk) 12:26, 2 April 2020 (UTC) reply

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hello, Old School WWC Fan

Thank you for creating List of awards and honors received by Roberto Clemente.

User:HouseBlaster, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

I feel like this "List" page should only contain the first section, and the influence on players today/gov recognition/canonization effort sections should not here, as they are not exactly a list entry. However, that is beyond the scope of NPP. Thank you for your BOLD efforts!

@ HouseBlaster: Perhaps those sections about his influence in other players, etc. may fit better in a “Legacy of Roberto Clemente” article? Old School WWC Fan ( talk) 22:08, 2 September 2022 (UTC) reply
That sounds like a good idea—there certainly seems to be enough material to make a full article. A quick google search of "Roberto Clemente Legacy" turned up a good number of sources, and I would imagine that offline sources also discuss his legacy in detail. Again, thank you for your efforts! combined reigns section

Hello. We include that section when there are multi times champions. If there are only wrestlers with one reign, the table adds nothing, that information is already in the main table. That's why we hide it. -- HHH Pedrigree ( talk) 17:34, 23 January 2023 (UTC) reply
