Vasco Road (California) article

I have drafted a new article ([User:Bruin2/Vasco_Road_(California)]) and would appreciate some feedback regarding its suitability for upload. I realize that it needs a map, at least, but I have no capability to produce one.

  • I reccomend moving this article to WP:AFC and tagging it for review if you want people to take a look at it and consider it. -- Crazysane ( T/ C\ D) 14:21, 1 September 2010 (UTC) reply

{{helpme}} I followed your recommendation. The proposed article was moved on September 1. There have been no comments to date. I would like to move it to the main area, since there will be links to several other articles. Please advise how to proceed. Thanks. Bruin2 ( talk) 14:31, 23 September 2010 (UTC) reply

Could you please edit the page, and put the following code as the first line, then save it;
{{subst:AFC submission/submit}}
That will mark it for a review, which should happen within a few days. Thanks,  Chzz   ►  14:47, 23 September 2010 (UTC) reply

Some Tulsa article suggestions

Thank you very much for your efforts on Tulsa-related articles; it was certainly a pleasure to see William Skelly come to life this week. If sports topics interest you, one article that is screaming out for help is Tulsa Golden Hurricane football, in which there is currently a four-decade gap between 1968's infamous 100-6 loss to Houston and the record-breaking win in the 2008 GMAC Bowl. More generally, the history of the University of Tulsa is a topic in need of elaboration--this came to my attention after the death of Ben Graf Henneke, and while I was writing an article about him, I collected some sources on other TU presidents, but now I don't have as much research and writing time as I would like, so I would be more than happy to share the research with you if you're interested. Best regards, -- Arxiloxos ( talk) 20:19, 15 February 2011 (UTC) reply

  • Thanks for your post. It's good to hear that somebody noticed.

I'd be pleased to collaborate with you on this or other Tulsa articles. I would defer to others on the Golden Hurricane history. The period you indicated occurred after I moved away from the area, so I have nothing special to contribute. However, I have begun collecting factoids about the early history when TU was formed from the old Kendall College. So, one of my current interests is to expand the Tulsa University History section. Maybe we could move the Tulsa University article up another notch on the quality scale. Bruin2 ( talk) 22:37, 16 February 2011 (UTC) reply

  • Fair enough, and thanks for the response. The Oklahoma Encyclopedia article about TU is a useful outline, but I have a feeling that there are some significant gaps in its recounting of the school's history. Some months ago (while working on the article about Henneke), I collected a bunch of links to articles about TU's history since the presidency of C.I. Pontius, and then ran out of time to do more heavy research. I've put all of that on a workpage, User:Arxiloxos/University of Tulsa history references, and you should feel free to make use of this material as you see fit. (Technical note: The "formatted references" in the bottom section are displayed the way they are -- with a $ sign in lieu of the correct opening symbol < -- so that you can see the content of the footnote; otherwise they wouldn't display on the page. When you want to use one of those footnotes in an article, just copy it and change the $ back to a < and it should work.) Best, -- Arxiloxos ( talk) 00:28, 17 February 2011 (UTC) reply
    • Hi Arxiloxos. Thanks for offering me an opportunity to use your Tulsa University notes to move the article along. It's taken a long time, but I wanted to fill in a more complete list of former presidents of the university. That's done, although information about each individual's significance to the school is pretty sparse for most of the earlier ones. Please take a look at the article and let me know what you think. Bruin2 ( talk) 14:43, 22 August 2011 (UTC) reply
      • Thank you for the note and for your efforts; I am glad to see those sources being put to some use. Your continuing efforts on Tulsa topics are most appreciated. W. R. Holway

I noticed your User:Bruin2/W. R. Holway (Engineer) article since it's already listed in several categories. If you don't want the article to appear in categories before it's ready, put a colon in after the square braces and before the word Category, e.g. [[:Category:Massachusetts Institute of Technology alumni]]. You'll still get a blue link to validate the category, but it won't get listed in the cat. Take that colon out when you move the article to the main space.

Some comments on the article:

  • I'd move the notable achievements earlier in the intro, and move the routine bio to later sections.
  • Also I'd rename the article w/o the "(Engineer)". Parenthetical titles are to be used for disambiguation and I couldn't find another W.R. in wikipedia to worry about.

Couple more thoughts:

  • Add {{ WPBIO|living=no}} to the article's discussion page, with suitable additional parameters.
  • I see there are a few unlinked references to W. R. already in Wikipedia that will need linking.

-- J Clear ( talk) 00:25, 7 March 2011 (UTC) reply

    • Thanks for your helpful comments. I'm ready to move the article to AfC.I think I have addressed all of them except the parenthetical addition to the title. I have no objection to removing that, but I think the action has to be taken by a Wikipedia administrator. Bruin2 ( talk) 14:46, 26 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Assuming you're able to move the article from the User: space, you should be able to rename it at the same time and eliminate the (). Never used AfC, so don't know if there's something different about that process. If you have a good article and you feel it doesn't violate any of the pillars (too much), then you could just move it to the mainspace directly. Be bold, as they say. -- J Clear ( talk) 21:54, 26 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Nice job on this article by the way. It was a redlink the day I created Pensacola Dam but not the next day.-- NortyNort (Holla) 09:59, 12 May 2011 (UTC) reply

W. R. Holway, and a note about notes

Very nice work on Holway. I've massaged the article somewhat, to fit various obscure criteria at places like MOS:BIO, and I added a little bit of additional information. I'd also echo what User:J Clear said above: now that you're an established editor, I'm not sure that there's any particular benefit in your putting your new articles through the extra step of AfC: you can just take them directly from your user space to mainspace when you feel they're ready.

I also wanted to ask you about the footnote format you're using, with all of the external links placed at the end of the cites rather than linked directly in the footnote text. Is there a reason you prefer to do it this way? If you look around in the footnotes of other articles, you'll note that they're usually done so that the reader can click directly on the name of the source to get to the external link.

For example:

rather than

  • Davis, Kirby Lee. The Journal Record (Oklahoma City). "These Walls: Spavinaw watershed in Tulsa" July 24, 2009. [1]

This also has the benefit the double numbering of the footnotes (one at the beginning, one at the end, sometimes with different numbers), which some readers may find distracting. I don't think there's any rule that requires one of the other, just something to consider. You might also want to look at the footnote generator available at http://toolserver.org/~magnus/makeref.php There's no rule that you have to use the templates generated by that engine (and I personally find them a bit annoying at times), but many experienced editors do use them and find them helpful.

Again, great work. Best, -- Arxiloxos ( talk) 17:10, 8 April 2011 (UTC) reply

Deletion of user subpages

Hiyas there Bruin2!

I just removed the User talk:Bruin2/William G. Skelly page you marked for removal. If you need more userpage deletions, it may be more convenient to tag them with the {{db-u1}} template. This will place the article in the relevant deletion categories so that it can easily be spotted by people currently doing cleanups. The template equally saves you the hassle of having to type an explanation along with the helpme template(helpme based deletion request are fine as well, but the DB template is likely more convenient). Just to let you know :). Excirial ( Contact me, Contribs) 17:54, 13 May 2011 (UTC) reply

Oklahoma Hall of Fame

I see that you are greatly expanding the Oklahoma Hall of Fame article and adding information about being inducted to the inductees' wiki pages. However, I see that in many places, instead of sourcing your addition, you are simply directly linking to a .pdf file.

<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.oklahomaheritage.com/HallofFame/ByName/tabid/89/Default.aspx | title=Oklahoma Hall of Fame | accessdate=November 16, 2012}}</ref>

That markup is a reference to the list of hall of fame inductees, accessed on November 16, 2012. Adding that, or something similar, would be great. ZybthRanger  (talk)  (contribs) 17:47, 16 November 2012 (UTC) reply

City articles

I notice you are working on the county articles and thought I would offer an idea. Instead of listing the cities, it seems like the preference in terms of how they are treated in GA and FA articles is paragraph form with a bit more detail under a subsection entitled Communities under Geography. What do you think of trying to do this in the county articles? I have done it for one or two, but thought I would seek your input before going further. Okheric ( talk) 15:42, 14 October 2013 (UTC) reply

Thanks for soliciting my input on your suggestion. I see no downside to listing communities contained by the county under the Geography section. I have some reservations about the paragraph format, since many counties have quite a few communities. I do favor subdividing the community list into Cities and towns; Unincorporated communities; Census designated places and Ghost towns or former communities. See Cherokee County, Oklahoma for example. You said that you had tried the paragraph form for a few counties, so could you send me a link for these. I want to be sure I understand what you are recommending. Cheers. DYK review

Aye Bruin2, thanks for your review of Template:Did you know nominations/1930 Graf Zeppelin stamps and your kind words about the article. Just thought I'd pass on some advice about reviewing. Instead of outlining all the various points, in full wording and in list form, you might want to summarize things a bit and just make the statement with a couple of sentences. e.g. Instead of saying:

  • It was nominated within 5 days of completion;
  • It exceeds the minimum 1500 characters length requirement.;
  • The hook is short enough and meets formatting guidelines;
  • etc...

You could have said:
Article is long enough, hook is interesting, short enough and sourced. Was expanded fivefold less than five days before nomination. No MOS issues, images all check out, no copyvios and no duplicate or disambig links. Good to go.
You also don't have to mention "neutral and does not comment negatively on living people" unless they are issues that need to be corrected. This is the way most reviewers do it, and it takes up much less space. That's my opinion anyway. Again, much thanks for your time and effort. GREATLY appreciated. Hello, and thanks for reviewing Template:Did you know nominations/United States Custom House (San Ysidro, California). There may be a problem with your review, though: part of the review process is to approve the hook, especially to verify that the hook is cited in the article. You approved the nomination, but you also expressed some doubts about the hook: whether it was cited, or whether it was even true. I suspect they will raise questions about that when they come to move the DYK into the queue, because right now it is confusing. Could you please take a look at my comment at the nomination, and then either indicate that the hook is OK, or else change your review from "approval" to something less than approval - something that acknowledges you have questions about the hook? Stub Contest

Hi and thanks for entering the sub contest - not sure if you saw the rules but the idea is to expand and reference stubs quite a bit. Thus articles like Adair Park (Stilwell, Oklahoma) and Arrowhead State Park need to be expanded quite a bit, and ones like Anadarko Basin and Adamson, Oklahoma are too big to begin with. Not sure what you want to do, but expanding those and removing ones that are too big in the first place of the list would be helpful. There is a really cool tool called this script (most accurate) or this one or this tool. Cheers, Cas Liber ( talk · contribs) 20:34, 19 September 2014 (UTC) reply

Hi Cas Liber. Thanks for your comments and corrections. Yes, I did read the rules, but obviously I did not understand them. I am working now to undo all of the stubs that I thought met the rather vague requirements for Start class. Perhaps there are more precise definitions for moving an article from Stub to Start somewhere in Wikipedia that I have not found. I am still puzzled about how an article can be too big to make such a move. Hereafter, I intend to leave judgments about quality and importance to the administrators, as I don't want to create additional work for someone else to clean up. I'll just stick with adding to content whenever I find something tha might be useful to an article. Bruin2 ( talk) 16:47, 20 September 2014 (UTC) reply
The lines between stub and start can be very woolly, and really the templates are supposed to be a pretty loose guide. They are of very little importance to readers and have been used by me as shorthand for what is essentially a contest about improving some of the shortest or nearly-shortest-lacking-referenced articles here. If you want help adding the above tools to the left-hand column I can help, though it is a bit involved, otherwise no big deal. cheers, Cas Liber ( talk · contribs) 20:05, 20 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • Hi Bruin. A quick note to say that as of this evening you've got 30 points - there's three days still to go, so if you've any more to add please get them in soon :-). I've gone through your list and about a dozen of them are still eligible for the contest with a bit of expansion - the rest were generally too large to begin with to qualify for the contest. Hello, Bruin,

I have left a driveby comment on the above DYK nomination. I believe it would behoove you to address the concern I commented upon. Once you have done that, I may be interested in completing a review of the article in question. Quirks in history, such as this incident, fascinate me.

Thank you.

Georgejdorner ( talk) 15:36, 11 October 2014 (UTC) reply

Hello, Bruin,

I have just reviewed the above. Unfortunately, it seems to have failed DYK nomination because it was not expanded 5 times. If you have some other provision of DYK under which it qualifies, please call it to my attention, and I will re-review.

Please do not be discouraged by this failure. There is a knack to DYK that may take a couple of attempts to master.

Georgejdorner ( talk) 14:26, 20 October 2014 (UTC) reply

Hi Georgejdorner, I may be mistaken, but I thought the 5X expansion applied only to articles that were previously posted in mainspace. Pe the article History, I started it in my user space back on September 9, when it had 3772 bytes. The article had 10,700 bytes when it moved from User space Bruin2 to mainspace on October 5. So, I think it meets the new article criterion. Does this satisfy the expansion criterion or have I misintepreted it?

I am looking for the proper citations you requested. Bruin2 ( talk) 18:05, 20 October 2014 (UTC) reply

Bruin2, I wasn't sure whether you'd noticed, but there has been further action on the DYK review. You are quite correct that the article is considered new as of when it was moved to mainspace, and that it is clearly new enough and long enough for DYK—I'm afraid that Georgejdorner wasn't aware of that aspect of the newness rules. However, there are other issues that need addressing, beyond the as yet unmodified sourcing. Please stop by soon; it has been over nine days. Thank you very much. BlueMoonset ( talk) 22:45, 29 October 2014 (UTC) reply
BlueMoonset, I am happy to see there is still interest and activity on this article. Thanks to you and Georgejdorner for resolving the timeliness issue. I've been sidetracked by a couple of other issues the past few days, but would like to resume moving this forward. I plan get back to fixing the references cited by Georgejdorner this evening. Bruin2 ( talk) 15:56, 30 October 2014 (UTC) reply
Bruin2, it's been more than another week, and the basic issue behind the "term paper" designation has not yet been addressed. This is critical: the template seems justified, and it means the article doesn't qualify for DYK in its present form. Are you planning to rework the article soon so it's more encyclopedic? Please respond to review issues on the DYK review itself. Many thanks. BlueMoonset ( talk) 05:00, 8 November 2014 (UTC) reply
BlueMoonset, I have rearranged the text of the article to move the description of the specific assault immediately after the summary paragraph. I think this addresses the organizational issue you had mentioned. The background discussion now comes next. Would you please look at today's revision to see whether this resolves the term paper issue? I had previously added a couple more in-line citations to the text. I look forward to your comments. Thanks for your help. Bruin2 ( talk) 21:11, 8 November 2014 (UTC) reply

Added a proposed alternate hook, which would need your approval. 7&6=thirteen ( ) 16:01, 4 December 2014 (UTC) reply
Bruin2, I think the first paragraph under Background needs, as I've recently said on the nomination page, a citation for the Civil War info (the uncontested control of the river and feasibility of resupplying via it), not for the stearn-mounted paddlewheel or the wood-fired boiler. This is now the oldest outstanding DYK nomination, so you need to do something about this soon. Given the broad nature of the claim, I would hope it was easily confirmed in a secondary source. Help with Aubrey McClendon?

Hi Bruin2, I noticed your username on the list of active editors on WikiProject Oklahoma, so I'm hoping you might be interested in helping out on an article I'm working on. I'm seeking some improvements to the article for Aubrey McClendon, an Oklahoman businessman who is CEO of natural gas company American Energy Partners, LP and founding CEO of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, and I'm looking for editors to review my suggestions.

Up front, I should say, I am working as a paid consultant to Mr. McClendon, so I'm not making any edits and instead hoping to discuss changes here due to my conflict of interest. An editor has already reviewed my proposed new draft for the article and was largely positive, although they did have concerns about one section. Unfortunately, they've not been back online since I asked if they could give more details so that I can work on updating the draft. Unfortunately, they've been offline for a few weeks now, so I'm hoping that others can review it, too. If you're able to, it would be much appreciated if you can take a look at what I'm proposing and share any feedback. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon ( Talk · COI) 19:14, 4 May 2015 (UTC) reply

Bruin2, I just noticed that you drafted a reply to this review in your sandbox, though you haven't posted it anywhere. To answer your question about the expansion, the DYK rules WP:DYK state the following, in the Eligibility criteria, under 2) Long enough, subsection b): DYK articles may freely reuse public domain text per Wikipedia's usual policy, with proper attribution. However, because the emphasis at DYK is on new and original content, text copied verbatim from public domain sources, or which closely paraphrases such sources, is excluded both from the 1,500 minimum character count for new articles, and from the ×5 expansion count for ×5 expanded articles. Since the Text of the Compact, Signatories, and marker inscription are all quoted—that is to say, copied directly from other sources rather than original—it does not count, and wouldn't even if the material was not in the public domain or otherwise free. (If it weren't PD or free, of course, that large a quote would be forbidden under WP:NFCC rules.) The same is true for all lists and tables, which are not considered prose by DYK: the DYK character count only counts prose characters. As Cwmhiraeth notes, the current expansion is from 1359 (prior to January 8) to 3191 prose characters. Given the base of 1359, you would need an article that was 6795 prose characters long to get to a 5x expansion, or another 3604 characters. If you think you can (and wish to) accomplish such an expansion in a timely fashion, please let us know right away. Otherwise, I don't see any choice but to close the nomination. Hey.

Just wanted to see whether you would be interested in adopting the article Carolyn Mary Skelly, since, back in 2011, you created the article about her father William Skelly. Bobbykelleyfl, who is claiming to be her great great grandson, already created the article, and he has done a good job with it, but since there is a conflict of interest, I was wondering whether you'd be able to assist him. The article isn't bad as it is, just needs some minor fixes.

As someone who believes in being welcoming to new editors, I took it upon myself to message him regarding that, but it seems he's either too frustrated, or just giving up.

Thanks in advance.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Chabot Space and Science Center into Redwood Regional Park. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{ copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Guy T. McBride, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot ( talk) 01:31, 27 July 2017 (UTC) reply

Thank you for your message. Originally, I had submitted this article as a draft, but was notified that the reviewer considered the subject lacked notability. I then revised the draft in an effort to clarify why I thought the subject was sufficiently noteworthy to appear in Wikipedia. I resubmitted my revised version in January 2017, expecting it would either be approved and moved to the mainspace, or else I would learn specifically what criteria the reviewer used to make his/her ruling. However, I have heard nothing since.
I still believe the article is appropriate for Wikipedia, even if the subject may be useful and interesting to a limited subset of readers. (Dr. McBride made major contributions to the modern education of engineers.) I still believe it is worthy of publication on Wikipedia. Do you recommend that I retrieve it from the Draft space and go ahead with posting it on mainspace? I see no value leaving it in draftspace. Thanks for your help. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Ways to improve Edwin R. McNeill

Hi, I'm Barkeep49. BD2412, thanks for creating Edwin R. McNeill!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. It seems clear that he was a real person. However I would suggest that neither of your sites, particularly the Miner one is WP:RS (that one simply seems to be a collective family research site). I would recommend checking out Google books which has some sources verifying his existence. While that trades unreliable sources for primary sources I would suggest that might be a positive overall trade.

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Bruin2, you created this DYK nomination back on October 26, but never transcluded it. I've only just noticed this today, two months later.

What would you like to do? We can still transclude and process the nomination, even at this late date. If so, you will need to provide a QPQ review, since you have more than five prior DYK credits. If you prefer, we can close the nomination; it's up to you.

Please let me know as soon as possible your plans for this; I'd like to proceed one way or the other before the end of the year. Many thanks, and I hope you're having a happy holiday season. BlueMoonset ( talk) 17:15, 26 December 2019 (UTC) reply

Happy holidays, Blue Moonset
Thanks so much for this reminder. I had wondered why my DYK nomination had disappeared from the list, after I had received an acceptance for the main article. Now, I realize that my attempt needed a QPQ, which I have not done. I definitely wish to move the Tulsa Club Building DYK nomination forward. Thanks for your assurance that this is still possible. This is now my first priority - superseding some other articles that I have been working on in the meantime. I will try to post something before New Year's Day, 2019. Sorry about my failure to realize that I needed to generate a new QPQ. Bruin2 ( talk) 01:12, 27 December 2019 (UTC) reply
Bruin2, I was happy to rescue you this, given your assurance that you would give it your first priority. It has already been reviewed, yet you haven't responded even though it has been over seven days, the typical time period expected for such responses. Given the original delay—this is from October—it will need prompt attention if you wish to pursue the nomination. I hope you will be able to give it your attention very soon. Arco Building, Tulsa moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Arco Building, Tulsa, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The subject of the article, President Pontius, played a very significant role in the history of Tulsa University and the city businessman in which it was located. Thus, I believe it meets the criterion for notability. At the time he accepted the position, most well-regarded colleges and universities in the country believed that the top executive should have at least a doctoral degree in some academic field. But, the Great Depression was in full swing nationwide, as well as in Tulsa, and the TU trustees were concerned that the school could fail, as many other such institutions already had. They believed that the head of the school needed the skills and knowledge of an astute business executive to prevent a financial collapse, and that this was more important than diplomas to save the school. Hence, they selected Pontius as the new chief executive. Their choice proved to be successful. Not only did he raise large amounts of money from new donors, he corrected some organizational problems that many academic leaders had overlooked, and that kept TU on a sound financial footing for many succeeding administrations. He won the confidence of faculty, students, and other community leaders. He is remembered even now as TU's longest-serving leader. I am convinced that his biography belongs on Wikipedia. Sit-in protests at John A. Brown Department Store in OKC

The John A. Brown Department store in OKC was the site of a historic sit-in protest of segregation led by Clara Luper and the OKC chapter of the NAACP Youth.

This should be added to that page. Many primary and secondary sources attest to this, including Clara Luper's memoir, Behold the Walls.

I see that you are greatly expanding the Oklahoma Hall of Fame article and adding information about being inducted to the inductees' wiki pages. However, I see that in many places, instead of sourcing your addition, you are simply directly linking to a .pdf file.

Article quality ratings are not "C"

The articles that you are marking as "C" rating...are not "C" rated, because they don't meet the first sentence of the "C" description, which is "The article is substantial". Those articles are NOT substantial! See /info/en/?search=Wikipedia:WikiProject_Oklahoma/Assessment#Quality_scaleSbmeirowTalk • 13:17, 12 October 2013 (UTC) reply

See Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline for guideline for US City articles. Notice how little those Oklahoma articles have compared to this guideline....thus is why they aren't "substantial" nor "C" rated. • SbmeirowTalk • 13:25, 12 October 2013 (UTC) reply

  • It was nominated within 5 days of completion;
  • It exceeds the minimum 1500 characters length requirement.;
  • The hook is short enough and meets formatting guidelines;

All the best. -- Gwillhickers ( talk) 19:27, 4 June 2014 (UTC) reply

DYK review

Thanks, and sorry to have to bother you about this! (P.S. Any additional comments from you should be added below my comment; you shouldn't change your initial review.) -- MelanieN ( talk) 14:39, 16 June 2014 (UTC) reply

Looks like I need to ask you to take one more look at Template:Did you know nominations/United States Custom House (San Ysidro, California). Several alternate hooks have been proposed; people need to know if you approve the alt hooks. It would be helpful if you would state a preference for which hook you like the best, although if you don't have a preference, you can leave the choice of a hook up to the person who promotes the article to the queue.

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Guy T. McBride, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

Ways to improve John H. Pitchford

Hello, Bruin2,

Thanks for creating John H. Pitchford! I edit here too, under the username Doomsdayer520 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

Thank you for your new article on John H. Pitchford. However, please read the Wikipedia guidelines at WP:EXIST and WP:JUDGE. Your article needs much more information on whether Pitchford played some sort of notable role in history, beyond merely repeating basic information about his existence.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Doomsdayer520}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hello Bruin2,

I am a sporadically active Wikipedia editor. I've never used the "Talk" function before, please excuse any unintended errors. My Wiki handle is kibiusa. I'm writing because I want to expand the stub on Bishop John H. Burt. I see that you added some biographical information, which was then reverted, something to do with copyright issues. i don't want to have the same problem. Could you take a moment to explain your understanding of why your post got reverted and how to avoid that? Thanks! kibi ( talk) 16:33, 24 July 2019 (UTC) reply

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{ NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 00:13, 19 November 2019 (UTC) reply

DYK for Tulsa Club Building

On 6 February 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tulsa Club Building, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Tulsa Club Building suffered four major fires in 2010, including three in a two-week period, yet remained strong enough to allow conversion to a hotel instead of demolition? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tulsa Club Building. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, Tulsa Club Building), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

::Thanks for your speedy attention to my recent article
C. I. Pontius and the start of a DYK for the same article. After reading your comments here, I can see that I did not adequately explain why I believe the subject is worth some additional work. I would much prefer reverting it to User:Draft status, rather than deleting it. That has already been done for the related DYK.

(I'm new to Wikipedia, so any advice on how to recommend edits and additions to pages would be kindly welcomed.) Viking Kelley ( talk) 14:50, 10 August 2023 (UTC) reply
