Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Bill Belichick, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:14, 25 February 2020 (UTC) reply

The page Wes Phillips has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. NFL staff templates

Hello. Per WP:REDNO, it is generally not advised to create red links for subjects that may not become notable according to Wikipedia's policies on notability. In general, NFL assistant coaches are not guaranteed to be notable. Additionally, you have linked articles to incorrect articles, such as Ryan Cordell, which is the name of a Browns support staff assistant but also a baseball player. Disambiguation link notification for March 22

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mike Compton (American football), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Patrick Henry High School ( check to confirm |  fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Brayden Coombs moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Brayden Coombs, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Support staff

Hi, support staff members like "coaching assistant"s, minority fellowship members (usually part-time and/or unpaid employees), chief of staffs, etc., are typically not included in NFL staff templates. These positions are not particularly notable, and the people who fill these roles are almost certainly not notable. These templates are not just a listing of every single person listed on team websites under "staff" per WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Coaches/support staff members who already have Wikipedia articles may be listed. Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:22, 26 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Even the former players? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:25, 26 March 2020 (UTC) reply

If a support staff member already has a Wikipedia article, like Leon Washington and Ty Warren, they can be added to the templates. This group of coaching assistant support members for the Panthers, should not. Thanks! Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:45, 26 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Got it, thank you very much Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:58, 26 March 2020 (UTC) reply

How do I link it to the coaches page? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 18:15, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

The coach doesn't have a page. And since coaches are not automatically notable enough to warrant their own articles on Wikipedia, there shouldn't be a redlink either per WP:REDNO. Eagles  24/7  (C) 18:52, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

I just made the page that’s why it wasn’t there before but how would I link it to that Bigmike2346 ( talk) 18:52, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

I've moved the page to Draft:Richard Rodgers Sr. The article is littered with links to disambiguation pages, improper grammar, redlinked categories, format issues, etc., and is clearly not ready to be a mainspace article yet. Please read Help:Your first article to understand how to have articles meet the standards on this website. Additionally, assistant coaches are not automatically notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia and I'm not sure this coach would survive an articles for deletion discussion. Eagles  24/7  (C) 18:57, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

The reason I think he would is because he has coached for over 30 years not to mention he was a former arena league player. And I apologize for the grammar. Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:06, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Being an assistant coach in the NFL for seven years does not automatically make someone notable. According to the infobox you added, he played for the Denver Dynamite from 1984 to 1986, but that team didn't even start playing until 1987. Is that right? May I ask what is still redlinked, and I thought you should know I’m dysgraphic so thanks so much for the help Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:32, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Sorry to hear about your impairment, hopefully practice on Wikipedia will help you out. At the bottom of the page, there are four categories redlinked. Additionally, there are several instances in the infobox in which a parenthesis is used immediately after a word without the use of a space (i.e. "College(1989-1994)") and there needs to be a space before any parenthetical ("College (1989-1994)"). Any better? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 20:01, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

And thank you so much Bigmike2346 ( talk) 20:01, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

There are still two redlinked categories. For college football coach categories, usually the team name (like "Aggies") as well as the sport they coached are required to make them blue. A few more notes for you: "Arena Football League" should be capitalized, it is an organization. There is an article for "The Play" that should be wikilinked in the article. The first mention of "Washington Redskins" should be wikilinked, not the second mention. Playing career positions should not be listed next to teams in the infobox. Eagles  24/7  (C) 20:06, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Better? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 20:20, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

In the infobox, Denver Dynamite should not have "(arena football)" next to it, you'll have to change it to Denver Dynamite. When calling out a range of years like "1989-1994" on Wikipedia, you have to use the endash, which looks like this: – (it is a special character that is the first one on the left under the "Insert" toolbar when you edit. It is different from a regular hyphen (-) and an emdash (—).) The New Mexico State category you revised links to the general New Mexico State athletics coaching category, it needs to go to the football coaches specifically. Please find Rodgers' birth date and add it to the infobox and opening paragraph. Eagles  24/7  (C) 20:25, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

I think I did it, and once again thank you for everything Bigmike2346 ( talk) 20:37, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

There are a couple spaces before the endash you added that should be removed, the article still needs his birth date. You removed the New Mexico State category, it should be . The Portland State category would follow a similar structure, as would any other college categories. Eagles  24/7  (C) 20:42, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

I took away the spaces, but his birthday is nowhere to be found Bigmike2346 ( talk) 20:53, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Thank you, so you think we can publish it now? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 21:19, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Yeah I think it's fine, the biggest thing is that he played in the Arena Football League and passes WP:NGRIDIRON, which is a notability guideline that assumes professional football players (AFL, NFL, CFL, not XFL, not AAF) are probably notable. Add in the fact that he was part of The Play and has been an assistant coach in the NFL for a while, and there's bound to be significant coverage of him in the media to warrant a full article. The page was originally created by a different user in July 2018, but it was nominated for deletion and the discussion ( Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chris Beake) resulted in a consensus that the topic was not notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. Since the topic has already been deleted through a consensus discussion, you may not recreate the page unless there are substantial changed circumstances that now warrant inclusion. The sources you've added still do not meet WP:GNG, which requires significant coverage in reliable sources. Right now there are two links to the Denver Broncos website (which aren't independent of the subject since he works for the team), a link to an NFL.com site (also not independent since he works for the league), a link to ProFootballArchives.com which does not constitute significant coverage as it's just a stats listing, and a link to a content aggregate subpage at 247sports.com, which doesn't say anything. I added a few more sources are they any good? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 16:23, 10 April 2020 (UTC) reply

The New York Times article is just a transactions page, the Seattle Times article is okay but not great, the Morning Journal article is a passing mention, and the Air Force football article is not independent since he played for the team. This is still not enough significant coverage to pass WP:GNG. Eagles  24/7  (C) 16:58, 10 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Any better? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 18:01, 10 April 2020 (UTC) reply

The article from The Athletic is behind a paywall but a Google search indicated that the book only mentioned Beake in the appendix as one of many military personnel to also be in the NFL at some point. There are many formatting issues in that draft (several of which we've talked about before), it would be a good idea to keep improving it before submitting again. Special teams coordinators are not assumed to receive significant coverage, and typically fall within the coverage of regular assistant coaches. Reviewing his coverage, however, it is likely Coombs passes GNG. Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:33, 10 April 2020 (UTC) reply

While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

 • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
 • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.

Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
 • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. Information icon Hi Bigmike2346! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Aaron Curry (American football) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia — it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Sorry for the templated message, but it does a better job explaining this than I could. Adding a reference to an article, as you did here is considered a "major" edit and the minor edit box should not be ticked when you save changes. Eagles  24/7  (C) 14:28, 6 May 2020 (UTC) reply

Hello, Bigmike2346

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username John from Idegon and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've proposed an article that you started, Ejiro Evero, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criteria and I believe that the article obviously and uncontroversially does not belong in an encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

 1. Edit the page
 2. Remove the text that looks like this:
 3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with John from Idegon. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Can you please specify what is wrong with the article that it should be deleted? Bigmike2346 ( talk) 21:16, 26 May 2020 (UTC) reply

Notice

The article Carmen Bricillo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Assistant coaches don't pass WP:NGRIDIRON

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Milton C. Elstner

Hello, Bigmike2346,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Akhiljaxxn, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged Milton C. Elstner for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative. Also, you may want to consider working on future articles in draft space first, where they cannot be deleted for lacking content.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. "Public domain" means that the source document is too old to still be protected by copyright. But you need to add attribution when copying from public domain sources: simply add the template PD-notice after your citation. I have done so for the above article. Please do this in the future so that our readers will be aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself, and that it's okay to copy verbatim. Speedy deletion nomination of Kasey Dunn

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kasey Dunn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://issuu.com/osuath/docs/2012_spring_football and https://okstate.com/staff-directory/kasey-dunn/183. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. By putting the copyrighted tag there (I’ve done it for a few of my articles when I sourced old books) (as for fair use like old materials if I remember correctly before 1925)

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Sdkb talk 16:07, 15 October 2021 (UTC) reply

This was done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appeared to be about a real person or group of people that did not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

In this edit, you linked to Richard Rodgers, which is the article for the dead composer not a football coach. Eagles  24/7  (C) 16:43, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:11, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Ya I fixed that Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:19, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

And I think the page is finished Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:20, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

There are still redlinked categories and many spelling errors. Please take your time with the draft, there is no deadline to submit it. Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:21, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Eagles  24/7  (C) 19:49, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

His birth date took a little digging but I found it, and also cleaned up the article some more. Here is my edit if you want to look it over for more tips, I'm going offline in a couple minutes. Eagles  24/7  (C) 21:12, 28 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with Akhiljaxxn. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Milton C. Elstner. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa ( talk) 19:35, 13 October 2020 (UTC) reply

Hello, Bigmike2346,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username John B123 and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Shannon Dawson, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

Please do not copy and paste passages from news articles into Wikipedia. This is still a copyright violation despite putting quotation marks around the passage. I have re-read the passage and it appears you did not directly copy and paste anything other than the quotes, which is fine, but the way it was written was not up to Wikipedia standards for writing.

I hope this helped. MainPeanut ( talk)

@ Sdkb: when rating articles class and importance in the talk pages, I’m sorry but why should I enter an edit summary for a rating Bigmike2346 ( talk) 19:16, 15 October 2021 (UTC) reply

@ Bigmike2346 Because otherwise editors who an edit without a summary will go to check what it is, wasting their time. If you want to rate articles, you can use WP:Rater, which adds an edit summary automatically. Sdkb talk 19:24, 15 October 2021 (UTC) reply
