Welcome

Hello, AB Blake and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Chris Troutman ( talk) 03:45, 31 October 2013 (UTC) reply

Hello, in my opinion it seems the article of marches on http://www.worldbookofmilitarymusic.com was copied from English Wikipedia. There're many interior links lead to Wikipedia, and they are exactly those links appears in the article. It also includes copied material from another article on Wikipedia: Military band. That website even includes copyrighted material: The Military Band of the Chinese People's Liberation Army section was copied from [1] (copyrighted by Chinadaily.com) -- Ericmetro ( talk) 15:34, 3 December 2013 (UTC) reply

I had a suspicion as well. I noticed that that site is being taken down pretty soon as well. I think there is already a citations-needed tag at the top of the page, so I will take down the copyright tags and do some research! Thanks for taking a look -- Adam Blake ( talk) 15:55, 3 December 2013 (UTC) reply

Counter-Vandalism

I'm pleased to see how you've taken to Wikipedia and I noticed your recent efforts at fixing vandalism. If you're so inclined, check out the Counter-Vandalism Academy. You can select one of the CVUA mentors and they'll take you through the 2-3 week course on counter-vandalism (applicable policies, warning templates, specialty editing tools, etc.). There are a so many places in Wikipedia to get trained or pitch in and I'd be glad to help you find where you want to go with Wikipedia. Chris Troutman ( talk) 07:52, 7 December 2013 (UTC) reply

Thanks, Martin! Your comments were actually very helpful. Sometimes it's hard to see that I haven't been as explicit as I could have been --- much different than writing for a journal article. I'll be going back and making edits per your suggestions over the next few days. I appreciate that you took some time to take a look at the article. trombone questions

Hello Adam, you can call me 74. I plucked your name from the Trombone and Types of trombone article. Do you have some time to mess with these things nowadays? There is a beginning-editor person trying to write up something on an annual trombone festival held in Hong Kong; the topic is close to being WP:NOTE enough for a dedicated article, and is definitely WP:NOTEWORTHY for inclusion in some existing article. However, unlike baritone#Artists and brass_band, the trombone-articles don't list the major festivals, except as raw external links e.g. Types of trombones has a couple of the festival-organizers as external links (which makes little sense). Anyhoo, if you would like to help Stanley and myself, it would be appreciated. I've also done some research on our existing trombone-festivals, both of which are stubs, and added the sources to their talkpages, if you feel like working on that stuff.

  1. User_talk:Stanleywlchen#getting_SliderAsia_article_written_correctly , needs analysis of whether enough WP:RS exist, plus help drafting prose neutrally
  2. Talk:International_Trombone_Association#potential_WP:RS, needs sources integrated into the existing article
  3. Talk:Eastern_Trombone_Workshop#potential_WP:RS, needs sources integrated into the existing article
  4. Trombone, possibly needs a new section on festivals/soloists/professors/symphonies/etc (cf baritone and brass band)

Thanks for improving wikipedia. p.s. If you reply here, please leave me a message on my talkpage, so I'll know you did. 74.192.84.101 ( talk) 00:33, 2 January 2014 (UTC) reply

LA to FA 2022

Dear AB Blake,

You're invited to a zoom call, taking place on February 11, with the goal of improving the article on Los Angeles to Featured article status! I often find it daunting to approach the Big Subjects on my own—so if you, like me, want a time to sit down with fellow dedicated editors and tackle something important and complex, this is the zoom for you! I, unfortunately, have no way to transmit snacks over zoom; but I trust you to exercise good judgement and discretion in selecting snacks of your own. Hope to see you there—if you're interested, add your name here!

Welcome

Hello, AB Blake and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one.

I think there is already a citations-needed tag at the top of the page, so I will take down the copyright tags and do some research! trombone questions

LA to FA 2022

Dear AB Blake,

You're invited to a zoom call, taking place on February 11, with the goal of improving the article on Los Angeles to Featured article status! I often find it daunting to approach the Big Subjects on my own—so if you, like me, want a time to sit down with fellow dedicated editors and tackle something important and complex, this is the zoom for you! I, unfortunately, have no way to transmit snacks over zoom; but I trust you to exercise good judgement and discretion in selecting snacks of your own. Hope to see you there—if you're interested, add your name here!
