Mr. Yondris Ferguson is a Wikipedia editor. I have been editing and searching on Wikipedia under this account name since May 25, 2014. Since that time, I have been, once again, getting to become re-familiarized with Wikipedia, editing Wikipedia, and learning the symbols and Wikipedia codes again.

Before creating this account, I went under two different consecutively created Wikipedia accounts. The reason for not using those accounts anymore is because of the fact that I have forgotten the passwords for those two accounts. So now I use this account name, Mr. Yondris Ferguson, as my primary Wikipedia account. I am very happy with this account and with Wikipedia.

Since May, I have contributed, so far, over 1000 edits [1] [2], and I hope to do many more and will be a Wikipedia member for years to come.

2.90 RPM according to EnterpriseyBot 23:10, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Luckily, this page, my user page, has never been subject to the art of vandalism. That doesn't mean I have a better or worse chance to be subject to Wikipedia's definition of vandalism.

My Views on Vandalism

What is "Vandalism"?

I believe before someone can discuss what something means to them, they have to know what it means period.

There are many words in the English language. Out of all these millions and millions of words, I have yet to discover one, not one, in this beautiful language of ours that list the exact same definition twice. For example, I looked up the exact definition of vandalism on Google. And, not to my surprise, not one of the definitions were the same. But l digress.

On the Google Search page for "definition of vandalism", it states vandalism as the following;

action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.
- www.google.com Google Search results for "definition of vandalism" [3]

In accordance to the online Merriam-Webster website i.word.com, vandalism is

willful or malicious destruction or defacement of public or private property
- i.word.com [4]

The online leading dictionary website [5] Dictionary.com has 4 definitions for vandalism.

1. deliberately mischievous or malicious destruction or damage of property.
2. the conduct or the spirit of the Vandals.
3. willful or ignorant of artistic or literary treasures.
4. a vandalic act.
- Dictionary.com [6]

I feel it would be unfair to give an definition of vandalism without giving the Wikipedia definition of vandalism.

Vandalism is the behaviour attributed originally to the  Vandals, by the Romans, in respect of  culture: ruthless destruction or spoiling of anything beautiful or  venerable.
- Vandalism, From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [7]

Even though all these definitions are different, they are saying basically the same thing. Vandalism is destruction.

My Feelings About Vandalism

Do I like vandalism. Hell no I don't! And I don't appreciate the use of it either. Let me make this perfectly clear!! I am not or ever will condole the use of vandalism or such behavior therefore and/or otherwise. I feel I should make that perfectly clear because I do not want to be wrongfully accused like Richard Nixon during Watergate.

I feel as though vandalism should be squashed. This may never happen sadly though. I do love Wikipedia's low-tolerance policy on vandalism and their way of dealing with it, (see Vandalism on Wikipedia). But this classic quote should some up what to do about vandalism;

Andy, we have got to nip this problem. Nip it in the bud.
- Deputy Bernard P. "Barney" Fife
- The Andy Griffith Show Sheldon Leonard Productions CBS (1960–1968)

Even with this comedic fifty-year-old quote, I still feel that vandalism is a serious matter that needs to be squashed immediately.

Wikipedian Biography

I began looking up stuff, mainly people and celebrities, long before I got the nerve to edit. The first edit I made was on July 6, 2013 to the article Rosanna Carter who is now apart of my growing article watchlist. This was right before I created my first account.

The changes that I made to the Rosanna Carter article was some substantial changes to her biography, her career, and I added her filmography. I am anonymous user 174.101.63.61. [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15]

Shortly thereafter I created my first account on Wikipedia. At that point, I only was on Wikipedia to look up a bunch of people who were on some of my favorite shows like Elizabeth Montgomery from Bewitched and Bea Arthur from The Golden Girls. I was not really in to the editing game. This is mostly because Wikipedia has so many codes that mean so many thing that when I went into the editing center, I only knew of one code which was that the double brackets, "[[ ]]", around a word or words, names, etc. mean that that word, words, etc. is or has, (in the case of a name) a article on Wikipedia. But I have gotten better. I know almost every Wikipedia code.

1000th Edit

I made my 1000th edit on February 21, 2015. The contribution was a minor edit to actress Martha Raye.
