Father

This source - http://users.hal-pc.org/~lwraif/Genealogy/bailey.htm - states that "William Holding Echols VI, Professor" is the father of Oliver P Echols. This seems to be the same person as William Holding Echols and William Holding Echols. This page states that the professor William Holding Echols is actually William Holding Echols, Jr, oldest son of William Holding Echols. It seems to me that the mentioning of William Holding Echols VI is incorrect. Does anyone care to weigh in before I change the name of Oliver P Echols' father to "William Holding Echols" and link it to the Wikipedia entry? Bwe1862 ( talk) 23:34, 12 February 2011 (UTC) reply

Which source is the most reliable? It is hard to tell, but the West Point seems best. Binksternet ( talk) 07:17, 13 February 2011 (UTC) reply

question about present contents

"In May 1945, Echols was sent to Germany to re-assemble and administer local government, public health, safety and welfare programs, to supervise education and religion". Question: what is meant by supervising religion? 69.231.33.130 ( talk) 16:56, 16 August 2014 (UTC) reply

BURIAL(s)?

The official ANC Explorer does not show him at ANC. At the same time, the WP:SPS website ArlingtonCemetery dot net has old info showing him in ANC. But this website hasn't been updated for years. Well, Find a Grave has two listings for him. One at ANC and the other in Texas. Only the Texas FAG listing has a gravestone photo. So – I'm assuming that all are correct: he was in ANC (per AC dot net) and he's now in Texas (per FAG). WHAT IS THE EDITING CONCERN? Find a Grave is deemed non-RS. So is AC dot net. I've tagged the re-internment for citation needed. And I think we can leave it (and the external links) as is until we get RS for the reburial. – S. Rich ( talk) 03:58, 12 January 2021 (UTC) reply

Followup. FAG has merged the pages into Texas. Accordingly I'm removing the ANC EL. – S. Rich ( talk) 19:00, 1 August 2021 (UTC) reply
