please explain the big picture

To the best of my knowledge, "Ike" is the short-form/nickname for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. "I like Ike" was highly popular campaign slogan (almost most popular, but Tippecanoe and Tyler Too is still better), which Ike used successfully in his 1952 presidential campaign.
